The Rolec WallPod Type 2 is designed for installations where simplicity matters. A fixed Type 2 connector is always ready to use, so the driver can park, plug in and begin charging without taking a separate cable from the vehicle.

With a nominal 5m EV charging cable, this model is best suited to driveways, garages, allocated spaces and workplace bays where the charging unit can be installed reasonably close to the vehicle. The shorter the cable can also mean less excess lead to coil, store or route around the parking area between charging sessions.

The charger delivers up to 7.4kW from a suitable single-phase supply and adds a range of smart and installation-focused features beyond basic plug-in charging. Dynamic load balancing can help manage demand at the property, while RFID and OCPP support make the charger suitable for installations where access or chargepoint management needs greater control.

Plan the Position Before Fitting the Charger

Confirm the Cable Will Reach

Start with the parking position rather than the wall.

Identify where the vehicle's charging port sits when parked normally, then select a mounting point that allows the tethered lead to reach comfortably. Because this is the 5m model, correct charger positioning is particularly important.

Also confirm the incoming supply, available capacity and any load-management requirements before installation begins.

Install the WallPod

Mount the charger on a suitable wall or compatible Rolec post and complete the electrical connection in line with the current Rolec installation instructions.

Built-in PME fault detection, overcurrent protection and 6mA DC leakage protection form part of the charger's protection package, but the installer remains responsible for specifying the complete circuit and confirming any additional protective requirements.

Configure the Smart Functions

Set up the operating method required by the customer. This may be straightforward plug & go charging, RFID-controlled access or connection to a compatible smart charging platform.

Where required, configure the network connection, load balancing and OCPP settings before testing a complete charging session.

At handover, show the customer how to use the tethered lead and where to store or coil it safely between charging sessions.
